Requirements for the Library Volunteer Bookworm pin were updated in 2026. The National Chair, Genealogy Records Committee (GRC) must verify that a volunteer member has completed a minimum of 2,300 record entries prior to the pin’s purchase.
Once the pin is purchased, a member volunteer may earn a drop bar. The National Chair, GRC Committee must verify the completion of a minimum 9,700 additional record entries (12,000 total) to earn the bar. 12,000 additional record entries are required to earn one star (24,000 total). 15,000 additional entries (39,000) are required for a second star, 18,000 additional entries (57,000 total) are required for a third star, and 21,000 additional entries (78,0000 total) are required for a fourth star. 22,000 additional entries (100,000 total) are required for a fifth star.
When this commemorative pin is worn by DAR members on the official ribbon, it must be placed according to the guidelines found in the current Placement of DAR Insignia and Pins on Official Ribbon (form INS-1000) as found on the Insignia Committee webpage.
