Share the foundation of American liberty with your community. DAR is honored to steward an original 1819 John Binns ceremonial engraving within its permanent museum collection. This double-sided poster is an ideal gift for local libraries, classrooms, and historical societies.
The front features the artistic 1819 Binns engraving, which surrounds the text with the seals of the thirteen original states and portraits of Washington, Jefferson, and Hancock.
The reverse serves as a historical resource, listing the 56 signers’ names, ages, and occupations. It traces the "Path to Independence" from Richard Henry Lee’s June 7, 1776 resolution, “these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States” to the January 18, 1777 “Goddard Broadside,” the first version authorized by Congress to include the Signers' names.
