Members are eligible to purchase the AVS pin upon completion and logging of a minimum of fifty (50) hours of recorded Application or Supplemental documentation indexing, or other committee work, to be verified by the National Chair.
Members are eligible to purchase a bar with an engraved star for the pin after an additional 150 hours of designated service. Members may establish eligibility to purchase an additional engraved star on the bar for each additional 50 hours of service, up to a total of five stars per bar. Additional stars and bars may be earned following the same criteria for service.
When this commemorative pin is worn by DAR members on the official ribbon, it must be placed according to the guidelines found in the current Placement of DAR Insignia and Pins on Official Ribbon (form INS-1000) as found on the Insignia Committee webpage.
