Founded in the late 1890s as an auxiliary to the DAR Franco-American Commission, this committee had as its purpose the erection of monuments in Paris to Generals Washington and Lafayette. These were unveiled during the Paris Exposition in 1900. Thereafter, its work was expanded to include other French heroes who gave service to America during our fight for freedom. The committee was deactivated, but is now reborn in 2023 as the Franco-American Memorial Committee.

This Committee works to remember and honor the long history that America and France have shared in support of liberty and democracy across the world. All Daughters are encouraged to commemorate our long standing Franco-American alliance, celebrate our present efforts as two nations aligned for freedom, and educate future generations about America’s first and longest ally, France.

This pin requires service as the State Chair or Co-Chair of the Franco-American Memorial Committee. Approval is required for purchase.
