The Founding Mothers pin is #13 in the America 250! Series of DAR commemoratives. The pin honors all women who supported the Patriot cause during the American Revolutionary War. Patriot ancestors such as Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, and Hannah Till did more than support their families, they individually performed their own courageous acts of patriotic service.
When this commemorative pin is worn by DAR members on the official ribbon, it must be placed according to the guidelines found in the current Placement of DAR Insignia and Pins on Official Ribbon (form INS-1000) as found on the Insignia Committee webpage.
When not worn on the official ribbon, DAR members may only wear this pin as a brooch, not on a right-side ribbon. When non-members wear this commemorative pin, it should demonstrate pride in all that DAR represents by wearing it when dressed nicely in a respectful manner.
