Chapters are encouraged to choose a woman to honor for the DAR Women in American History Award by taking into consideration women who have contributed or made a difference in their communities. She could be a historical entity or currently alive and worthy of recognition. Look for women who are, or have been, intellectual, educational, social, religious, political, scientific, or cultural innovators. The woman or women being honored may be DAR members, prospective DAR members, or non-members.

The 8” x 10” DAR Women in American History cream colored certificate has the DAR Insignia and "National Society Daughters of the American Revolution" embossed in black ink. Add the chapter name and signature of the chapter regent before presenting it.

The document jackets are available and sold separately.  A template for the certificate can be found here in templates.

To submit the 100 word description of the honoree's service or for more information about the DAR Women in American History Award, please visit our informational American History Committee webpage.
