The National Chair needs to approve all requests for the pin and bars.

Once a Volunteer earns the pin, they can earn a bar for every additional 500 hours of service. To determine qualifications, the National Chair reviews how many documents the Volunteer has indexed. When the Volunteer has indexed the required number of documents (which can be from one of the projects or several of the projects), they qualify to order the bar. The qualifications also state how many indexed documents must equal 500 hours.

For instance, The bar engraved with "500 Hours" or if a Volunteer had 1000 hours, the Volunteer would have it engraved with "1000 hours" etc.

The engraving is always in 500 hour increments.
