Located in the DeTonti Square Historic District of Mobile, Alabama, the Richards-DAR House Museum is a beautifully preserved Italianate townhouse built in 1860. Originally the home of riverboat captain and merchant Charles G. Richards and his wife, Caroline Steele Richards, the house remained in the Richards family for three succeeding generations before being acquired by the City of Mobile.

In 1973, six local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) partnered to restore and operate the property as a period house museum. For over 50 years, DAR volunteers have curated a remarkable collection of 19th-century furniture, décor, artwork, and Richards family artifacts, while also highlighting elements of American history and the DAR’s legacy. The museum serves as both a historical landmark and a tribute to Mobile’s architectural heritage.

A minimum of four (4) hours of documented volunteer service at the Richards-DAR House Museum is required for purchase approval, with final consent granted by the Alabama State Regent.

This pin may only be worn by DAR members on the official Insignia ribbon according to the most current "Placement of DAR Insignia and Pins on Official Ribbon" document found on the Insignia Committee webpage.

This gold-filled pin measures 1 1/8” wide by 7/8” tall.
